Born in Grants New Mexico in 1961, Raised on a small ranch/farm in Gallup
NM.  As a child I doodled a lot and watched my Mom (Shirley) make her
crafts and paint ceramics. I was very interested and paid attention to small
details.  Always loving nature and animals. Many years went by not really
knowing until
A little over 8 years ago I decided to become a stay at
home mom for my two beautiful daughters Kristal and
Jessika.  I was driving over 60miles a day to get to
Albuquerque from the East Mountains.  I was the
production manager for Rogers Indian Arts.  We created
beautiful handmade and machine cast Indian Jewelery.  I
loved what I did, but the commute and stress on myself
and babies was just too much.
After being at home, it was not long that my ambition and
desire to create got the best of me.  I began tinkering
with small wood projects and painting them.  My
husband Gary came home one day with an easel,
canvas and paints.  He told me to get serious about my
painting, and stop messing with small stuff.
That canvas stayed blank for quite a while.
I just couldn't bring myself to mess it up.  As I
sat outside on my porch one afternoon, I spotted
a flat smooth rock.  I seen a scenery in the grooves of
the rock.  I picked it and a paint brush up and
brought the scenery out with paint.  From then on I
began collecting flat rocks everywhere I could.  I decided
that I would practice on the stones instead of canvas,
that way if I messed it up
I could just throw it away and start over instead
of costing money on canvas.  After creating
quite a collection of these painted
rocks,  I decided to go out and see
if I could find a gift shop to purchase
them.
I spotted a building with a sign that read
Taxidermy & Gift Shop,  since I had painted wildlife on
most of the rocks I thought I'd give it a try.
They liked what I had and bought them all.
From that day on I have been creating works of art on
just about anything I can get my hands on. I named the
rocks
"Patio & Fireplace Art"  you can click on this link
to take a look at almost all of the ones I have painted in
the past.   As you can see from the pictures on this
website, I've been pretty busy over the last 8 years.  I
thank God everyday for the talent that I did not know I
had.  I thank my Mom, and Gary for giving me the
encouragement and push that I needed when times get
rough.  And I thank Kristal & Jessika for keeping me on
my toes, and not letting me give up.
I also thank all of the wonderful people that have given
me the opportunity to create my works of art for them.
I take every opportunity to be creative and learn
something new every time. When I am not taking care of
my family or creating, I study art books and lessons from
my local library or online to become better at what I love
to do.
Thank You!
