From: Mary Ellen Merigan instructor for "Market Link" through WEEST CORP. "Women's Economic Self Sufficient Team" Colette, Colette handed me three color pages. “This is the start of my catalog.” In a confident voice she explained that these products formed a business base. “My daughters can paint these elements and I can work on bigger things.” Eleven weeks into a 15-week session, Colette Morfin’s transformation represented one strong success story. Like many artists Colette struggled. The love she felt for her craft balanced precariously against her commissions and part-time jobs. It worked most of the time. When she enrolled in MARKETLINK, a four-month intensive training for entrepreneurs, Colette spoke of a turning point. Her quiet determination was apparent from the beginning; she came prepared to class and then sat quietly in the background. Always shy, she initially refrained from volunteering her opinion or asking her questions. As the class progressed, Colette experienced the power of focus; always passionate about her painting, she now reframed her thinking to focus on its result. She defined a product, discussed its marketing and questioned its development. In small group sessions she tested ideas, listened to suggestions and garnered more knowledge. The power of focus worked to create a definitive boundary for the development of a new vision far larger than the original. Colette readily discusses the discernable difference in her business today; the words are just that. Her enthusiasm underscores the commentary, passion apparent as she gestures to a tray of hand painted, personalized ornaments. Thanks to MARKETLINK tools Colette Morfin looks at her work with new eyes that see opportunity in ways that did not exist a mere three months ago. Where can your focus create such transformation? Think about it. Ninety days from now you could be in a different place in your life and/or your business. Ask Colette. |
